Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa - Vampire Weekend

For anyone who likes Talking Heads - and thought there was something not quite right with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Vampire Weekend have drawn from Afropop rather than draw on Talking Heads drawing on Afropop (as Clap Your did)… and it sounds good as a result, right now.

Animal Welfare: Limping Towards Eden

Animal Welfare: Limping Towards Eden (UFAW Animal Welfare) (Paperback) by John Webster - published February 2005.

Humans like eating meat - but says - Professor of animal husbandry at Bristol - Webster, cows, for example, have a mental life.

Cows within a herd form friendships and bear grudges - and get excited by solving puzzles. They have a sense of self - and suffer - and seek pleasure. They and other farm animals, are individuals.

It seems that we don’t want to listen to Prof Webster - but animal welfare may have to be re-thought.

Darian Leader — why do people get ill?

book. he is the founder of London’s centre of  Freudian analysis and research.  New book argues that psychoanalysis has a place, because physical symptoms may have a mental basis.  is scathing about cognitive behavioural therapy says it is only correcting surface of symptoms and re-integrating people.

he says, cognitive behavioural therapy was used in Mao’s China for the education process so that people would see the world in the way the authorities wanted

Darian uses Lacanian practice - great emphasis is placed on importance of language.  He says it is not a quick fix.

He pointed out that Galen, a Greek doctor practising in the Roman Empire observed that depressed women were more prone to cancer than cheerful ones.
