Social obligation / market transaction

Ariely uses another example. A study conducted in an Israeli nursery decided to punish parents for collecting their children late. They would be fined £10. But once the fine was introduced, guess what happened to lateness? It went up. Once the social obligation (turn up on time) had been replaced by a market transaction (Late? That will be £10 please) attitudes changed.
Predictably Irrational by MIT’s Professor Dan Ariely.

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa - Vampire Weekend

For anyone who likes Talking Heads - and thought there was something not quite right with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Vampire Weekend have drawn from Afropop rather than draw on Talking Heads drawing on Afropop (as Clap Your did)… and it sounds good as a result, right now.

Hockney on Art

Hockney on Art (Paperback)
by David Hockney (Author)

Perspective is tyranny  a renaissance invention ( but seen in photography)?

But perspective is the least truthful - cos humans don’t see images that way - human eye engages emotionally. It remembers what the back of the object looks like. Single viewpoint is not the best view. Eye circles and spends time with objects.

Only painting can recreate this real way of seeing - cubism etc

The Gestapo Handbook for the Invasion of Britain / Invasion 1940

Nazis planned to dismantle British society. They created a handbook for all their British society dismantling needs.

It was called: The Gestapo Handbook for the Invasion of Britain. Republished as Invasion 1940 in 2002.

The Reich Security Directorate prepared it - under SS Chief Reinhard Heydrich.

Book was produced by SS General Walter Schellenberg.

Schellenberg on British Public Schools:

“the one half of a per cent of children who attend public schools will eventually occupy about 80 per cent of all important social and political posts,”

Colonel Professor Dr Franz Six was to be the man in charge of the SS arrest operations in Britain. Six had been ordered to lead a command of six Einsatzkommandos (action commando units), whose job would be to follow the German army across Britain, rounding up the entire Jewish population and placing them in “holding centres” for further decisions.

How to read a church - book by Richard Taylor

Fonts and pulpits are octagonal cos it mediates between the circle (perfect = God) and the square (representing earth). So octagon can be symbol for Jesus.

Bible lecturns rest on eagles cos eagles are supposed to be able to stare into the sun (words from bible are like staring into sun).

A rabbit / monkey = lust

pig = lust and laziness

Serpents = devil
